My comic Collection!
I don't care about American comics. Call me a weeb, but I just prefer Japanese art styles -- and there's no way in hell I'm gonna try and keep up with 60 years of a billion superheroes' storylines and all that. However, I love collecting manga and especially western reprints of manga from the turn of the millenium. Before the Japanese tankobon manga book format came to the States, American publishers like Dark Horse Comics and Viz Media would divide manga volumes into American magazine-style comic book format and publish them alongside their usual American comics.
Nowadays, people would probably scoff at these bygone relics of the Y2K era since westerners have easy access to tankobon volumes; these magazine-style printings aren't relevant anymore... but that's exactly why I love them!
They're pieces of that bygone era that I think are being sadly overlooked in this time of Y2K nostalgia. It's just the print equivalent of that mediocre English anime dub you love, y'know? Plus some of these old comics have supplementary material like ads, interviews, promos, and possibly bespoke cover art that might not be a part of their original Japanese release!
So, here is where I'll be uploading scans of the covers of my comics, mainly magazine-format reprints; I'll be upfront, I haven't read the majority of these yet! I was too focused on saving them from my local rural comic shop -- before it succumbed to the Funko Cancer last year.
